Concert Review(s)

Hothouse Flowers Live at Vicar St 1998

The boys are back in town with a new more modern sounding album Born. They miss Leo Barnes saxophone but benefit from modern sounds and drum loops.

They do a mixture of the old and the new. You can Love me now will be one of the stand out songs in their collection. I like about half of the new songs. They have a new drummer. They do a few of the old songs as well, Songs from the rain and the obligatory Don’t Go at the end.

They said...

The lads from the Flowers are great. Siobhan, singer with Audiokiss sang on a track with Liam.
Jack Dublin (In Tua Nua)

I like songs from all their albums so no one record really, there are some great tunes on all of them.
Dave Clarke (Hothouse Flowers)

Q. What is your favourite Hothouse Flowers album?
A. Bit of a tough one with The Flowers as Rob and I put a lot of love into Born, so it has to be Born, I have happy memories all over it and the time we made it, and I love the songs.
Wayne Sheehy (Hothouse Flowers)

‘Don't Go’ was a great song!
Craig Walker (Power of Dreams)

Q. What is your favourite Hothouse Flowers album?
A. The next one Brian... with any luck!
Fiachna Ó Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers)

Loved the early stuff but I didn't really follow them after that.
Paul Byrne (In Tua Nua)

Love them... they are a great bunch of guys. Though I've mostly hung out with Liam. What a performer!
Mark Dignam (Singer)

Afraid I missed out a lot of the Flowers. Great songs and vocals and they were superb entertainers. Wonderful group of people but we were on the road and I recall many meetings at Dublin Airport as we all made our way to European Festivals.
Mike Hanrahan (Stockton’s Wing)

Great performers.
Maurice Lennon (Musician)
