Concert Review(s)

Altan live at St Canices Cathedral Kilkenny

Mairéad and Dermot and the boys are back again. They don’t have Ciaran Tourish but they have Dermot and the others. Their albums are lovely but a bit too much alike. Live is the way to see them. Lovely singing and fiddling from Mairéad. There is great sound in a cathedral. I love Dulaman and everything else they do. Great night.

They said...

Altan never had the edge of De Dannan or Stocktons Wing. Great music, lovely songs but I always thought they lacked a little.
Mike Hanrahan (Stockton’s Wing)

Q. What's your favourite Altan album?
A. I have the impression -- and I think the others agree - that ‘Island Angel’ might be the nicest collection of material overall - and of course Frankie is on it!
